Welcome to A Great Little Place

An established multi award winning social enterprise cafe that provides supported work experience for autistic people of all ages.

Originally opened in 2010 on Hoghton Street in Southport, A Great Little Place was set up by Autism Initiatives to provide delicious homemade food, freshly bakes cakes and barista coffee whilst providing varied and supported work experience for autistic people to improve their employability.

In 2018 we relocated this very popular small café to a larger site within The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport, a beautiful and creative arts venue in the heart of the town, and have seen the business grow from strength to strength.

Enterprise

The busy café has extensive kitchen facilities and customers love the variety and quality of food and cakes that are lovingly made in-house and are displayed for all to see!

We also provide bistro style food offers to support evening events, buffets for day events and celebration cakes for The Atkinson and locally.

Alternative Education

We work alongside Peterhouse School, OSSME and local schools to create a selection of meaningful alternative education placements within the peaceful setting of this outdoor based social enterprise. Young people can learn about and gain skills in employability, catering, baking, sales and customer service, using tills, handling cash and banking, health and safety in the workplace. This can be supported by e-learning.

Adult Work Placements

We also offer a wide range of employment focussed, autism specific supported work placements for adults that encourage learning new skills and improve people’s health and well-being. These placements can be supported by e-learning.
